Braintree is a global payments platform whose code powers everything from Airbnb to Uber. In 2015, we set out to bring their brand into the spotlight by connecting with developers — a group that values authenticity, appreciates good tools, and tends to be skeptical of advertising. We needed to show them that we understand their world and build products with their needs in mind.

Enter Codeology. An open-source project that visualizes the art and science of code. Using an algorithm, it analyzes GitHub projects and generates unique, organic forms based on each project’s size and language. Just as no two pieces of code are alike, no two Codeology forms are the same.
